Contemporary elegance meets antique charm

Combining old and new in interior design requires special attention to history and a deep understanding of the materials used. This is exactly the sensitivity that Susanne Elsen was looking for when she approached me with a special request: she wanted a creative solution to restore and reuse an antique plant stand of great artistic value.

As Mrs Elsen loves to move around while reading and writing her books, I suggested transforming the plant stand into a high table. Her high standards, as a former antique dealer, were a stimulating challenge for me. timeless beauty, combining antique charm with modern elegance.

I carefully selected an experienced stonemason to ensure that the antique and modern elements were combined with the necessary sensitivity. The finished table fits perfectly with the other rarities in the room. These projects demonstrate that antiques are not just relics of the past. With creative ideas and craftsmanship, they can be transformed into something new and useful.

Mrs Elsen loves her restored table, which has become her daily reading and writing companion. Every time she looks at it or touches the stone, she is reminded that beauty and functionality are timeless.

Ultra-thin natural stone:

a source of creative inspiration

Materials for upcycling and redesign at the CreativWerkstatt in Brixen, South Tyrol: stone veneers, stone slabs, paints, and linoleum for creative and sustainable solutions.

As a designer, I have had the opportunity to experiment with these beautiful natural stone coverings and can confirm that the thin 1.5mm slabs really are the secret to achieving extraordinary results. Whether renovating or redesigning furniture, the results are impressive.

Why choose natural stone veneers?

Sustainability: Perfect for furniture recycling.

Affordable: can be applied directly to existing surfaces.

Versatility: wide range of colours and finishes.

My experience

I have personally cut and finished these veneers. At home, I have used them to restore an antique piece of furniture and to adapt my dining table to the new design. The carefully chosen colours and pleasant texture blend perfectly with the rest of the décor and are easy to clean.

In another project, I suggested using veneer as a backsplash for a kitchen and the response was extremely positive.
