Experiencing Synesthesia – conscious, repeatable, transformative
What if colour, sound and scent didn’t just evoke emotions – but could guide you into a specific inner state? A state you can consciously access – because it’s anchored within you?
With Harmoniacum™, I create living spaces that resonate deeply with you: a simultaneous, sensory perception across sight, sound and scent creates resonance – anchored in your body and connected to your inner purpose.
Harmoniacum is the aesthetic-synesthetic foundation of my work:
seeing, hearing and smelling interweave to create resonance.
But that’s only the beginning. While Harmoniacum™ activates your senses, the Vision Quest and IVM® Method expand this approach by adding a symbolic and spatial dimension.
From your inner images, a tangible space emerges – a living space that strengthens you.
Together, we anchor your values, your vision and your next step in life into colour, material, form, light and symbolism. Your space becomes your inner compass – a place where you can already experience your future with clarity and calm, free from interference.

Introduction
Synesthesia fascinates science, art, and design. This whitepaper shows how this unique perception creates a new understanding of space – and how Harmoniacum™ makes emotional resonance tangible.
What is synesthesia?
The term synesthesia originates from Greek and means “to feel together” or “to perceive simultaneously.”
It describes a phenomenon where sensory perceptions that are usually separate – such as sight, sound, or smell – are linked in an unusual way. A single stimulus doesn’t just activate its assigned sense but also at least one other.
This leads to cross-sensory experiences – for example, colors that can be “heard” or sounds that can be “seen.”
For those who experience it, this way of perceiving is entirely natural. It happens automatically, spontaneously, and consistently.
Neuropsychology assumes there are unusual neural connections between sensory centers.
Studies show that around 4–5% of people experience synesthesia in some form – with many more likely unreported.
Color is the echo of light – sound is its movement.
Harmoniacum™ – Designed Synesthesia as a Spatial Experience
What some people are naturally born with is consciously brought to life in the spatial concept of Harmoniacum™:
Color (visual experience), sound (auditory depth), and scent (olfactory emotionality) merge into a holistic and sensually tangible spatial concept.
This form of artistic and creative synesthesia is not a medical diagnosis, but rather a creative interpretation.
The goal is to generate emotional resonance – through three sensory channels at once.
Spaces become experiential environments where aesthetics, emotion, and perception are interconnected.
The Triad of Harmoniacum™
Color • Sound • Scent – Three senses, one effect
-
Color (visual resonance):
Colors directly impact the visual system and influence mood, attention, and mental clarity.
-
Sound (emotional depth):
Music activates the auditory system and the limbic center – the birthplace of emotions. -
Scent (limbic connection):
Scents act via the olfactory system directly on emotional memory – creating instant connection, recall, and soulful resonance.
Targeted effect:
All three sensory experiences intertwine and enhance each other.
The impact unfolds not only through the eyes, but also on the body and soul – perceptible, sensuous, and holistic.
Scientifically grounded – artistically interpreted
Researchers such as V. S. Ramachandran, Richard Cytowic, and Oliver Sacks view synesthesia as a valuable window into consciousness and creativity.
Artists like Kandinsky, Scriabin, and Messiaen used this perceptual fusion to create works with deep emotional dimensions.
Conclusion
Harmoniacum™ translates the principle of synesthesia into an innovative spatial concept.
It combines aesthetics with emotional depth – and creates spaces that are not just designed, but experienced.

Color is light – and at the same time sound and scent.

Horst supported me with empathy and expertise in creating my Jin Shin Jyutsu practice in Natz. Together, we transformed the former guest room using the ILD method, removing anything that no longer served and carefully selecting the wall color. Thank you, Horst, for this SACRED space!
