Modulux P2 is a modular seating system made of solid wood, designed for flexible living situations, compact floor plans, and adaptable interiors.
The modules can be disassembled without special tools, replaced, and reconfigured according to different usage scenarios – forming a durable system with a clear material logic.

Design principle

  • Systemic rather than short-lived: modules can be recombined, replaced, or expanded.

  • Tool-free disassembly: a prerequisite for transport, repair, and circular economy principles.

  • Durable materials: solid wood and robust surfaces for everyday use.

  • Small living ready: optimized for changing layouts and multi-use rooms.

Sustainability & circularity

Modulux P2 is designed for longevity: replaceable components extend the product’s lifecycle and reduce material waste.
Through its demountable construction, reparability, and the option to replace individual parts instead of the entire product, Modulux P2 supports a circular approach.

Concept

Modulux P2 is a modular seating system with freely combinable seat and backrest modules.

All elements are based on a uniform base frame and are standardized and interchangeable.

This allows linear, segmented or extended configurations – from single seats and bench solutions to lounge and dining layouts.

The system is designed as a permanently reconfigurable furniture structure and not as a fixed single furniture object.

Technology & Modularity

Technical overview and ergonomic principles

Detail 2.jpg
Drehbewegung lehne.jpg

The system is based on a modular base frame. Seat surfaces and backrests are designed to be rotatable, combinable and interchangeable. All modules feature clearly defined interfaces for reproducible serial production and variable configurations.

The modularity follows a precisely structured system logic and serves functional scalability.

Backrest inclination & ergonomics

Infinitely adjustable backrest from 0° to 30°.
Seat-to-back angle: approx. 95°–125°.
Optional relax mode up to 160°, mechanically secured.

The upholstery is vertically graded and ensures targeted support of the lumbar region.

Backrest mechanism

Side panels transfer the structural loads. Rear panels are mounted on a rotating support and enable stepwise adjustment of the backrest inclination. The mechanism locks positively in every position and ensures stable use.

All components are tool-free interchangeable, replaceable and designed for complete disassembly.

Inside the system

Material overview:

  • Solid wood frame (regional, ash or oak)

  • Natural linoleum panel (3 mm)

  • Intermediate cork layer (20 mm) for natural damping and acoustic optimization

  • Solid wood seat support (15 mm)

  • Backrest panels made of multilayer wood composite

  • Steel fittings and screws, fully recyclable

  • Upholstery with removable fabric cover

System parameters:

  • Seat height: 450 mm

  • Seat depth: 420 mm

  • Backrest height: 430 mm

  • Foldable side panels for shelf and storage mode

  • Backrests can be stored under the seat in compact configurations

Material origin & processing

All materials are processed solvent-free and originate from European production (supply chains < 500 km).

Technical drawings & modular variants

Scaled drawings of the base module and the key variants document the structural system logic, the relationships between modules and the configuration options for different usage scenarios.

Material & sustainability notes

Modulux P2 is manufactured from solid wood, natural linoleum and cork. The material selection follows clearly defined criteria:

  • regional origin

  • recyclability

  • long service life

  • material-type separability

Construction and materiality are consistently designed for circularity, reparability and long-term use.

Design impact

Modulux P2 is intended for use in private and public interior spaces.
The formal design remains system-consistent across all configurations.
The combination of solid wood, linoleum and cork creates a robust, natural surface quality and supports a durable, timeless appearance.

License & cooperation

Modulux P2 is designed for production, licensing and development partnerships.
The system is suitable for serial production and scalable for project-specific custom solutions.
Cooperations with selected manufacturers and development partners are intended.
